These photos were taken in the first year (2006) in the Ujima Children’s Garden. We had spent time collecting stones, to mark the edge of the main path that the children designed.
Even as the garden transforms, the main path continues to link us from from indoors out into the garden.
This winter as the peach tree and blueberries rest, we will pour over seed catalogs to discover what it is we want to plant next season!
Today was spent in reflection of this weekend, and all that evolved to bring it all together. The second annual 'Local Hands' sale was a huge success- truly from the coming together of community. The bake sale this year- oh my! The Urban Farm Project-Ujima Children's Garden now has $200.00 to buy seeds, mushroom spores and all else needed for the coming season! This is SO exciting!!!! and the timing was interesting- in my mail box this morning was the new Seed Savers Exchange Catalog! Next, we will sit as a group (the kids, Tim, Cote, Stephanie, Chris and myself) and decide what to grow next year! Thank you all so much for the generosity (the bakers and happy eaters)! The Oragami Crane total for Hate Free Zone came to $135.00! So much combined effort to make the cranes- thank you to those who worked together on this project, and those who donated for a crane ornament! i will be sending in the check at the end of this month. Steve Arntson's lively, lovely dance with the Concertina is beautiful music- http://www.myspace.com/stevenrarntson thanks Steve for your part in this! i appreciate everyone who came out to support the craftspeople- It's beautiful to be supported for something one loves to do, and share. This year it was obvious that it will be the last one in my small house! Thoughts are- to seek within the community those who would be willing to explore this evolving into a Barter Fair next December. The door is open to many possibilities- if you are interested in such a project- please contact me! with wild synergy! Linda Moore
